ESI Funds for Health project in the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018

On 9 October, our Policy Director, Jennifer McGuinn was invited to speak at the high-level event “Global Challenges, Territorial Answers: the Future of Health in Europe” organised by EUREGHA within the European Week of Regions and Cities 2018.

Jennifer was asked to speak on behalf of the European Structural and Investment (ESI) Funds for health project that she is leading at Milieu with a consortium of partner organisations and experts. This 2-year project supported by the EU’s third Health Programme, has mapped and analysed all health-related investments made possible with ESI Funds during 2014-2020.  Through the organisation of 6 workshops across EU Member States, the project has also contributed building capacities of in Member States and regions to support the effective use of ESI Funds for health.

In her presentation, Jennifer talked about some of the 60 exemplary projects identified within a database of over 7,000 health-related projects funded by ESI Funds. Milieu built this database of projects as well more in-depth studies of projects and interacted with project beneficiaries to organise the workshops. The lessons learned and policy recommendations for the next Multiannual Financial Framework will be included in the final report and at the final conference of the project on 6-7 December in Brussels.
